Exercise 1:3 An Heuristic Experience


1. Identify the type of organisation running the website (eg. business, school, university etc).
Twitter is a business founded in 2006. More information at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitter

2. Use Nielsen's Heuristic evaluation form to produce your results. Make plenty of comments.
3. Copy the e-mail results and Report your evaluation findings in your OLR.

c1=Twitter's homepage is beautifully simple. It uses graduations of the colour blue to differentiate content areas of the page and a single green box to draw the eye to Sign up now. Most text is in lower case, simple, legible font. Uses 'less is more' rule.

c2=Language used is that of the general English-speaking population. Technical terms and jargon are avoided. Language is friendly and informal.

c3=User is given examples & instructions under the boxes to be filled in.

c4=Menu options in same place on all pages. Words like followers and following are used consistently and layout of screen remains the same on different pages.

c5=Word number countdown ensures user knows exactly how many words have been used. Fast response times.

c6=Once a message has been sent it can't be undone.

c8=No spell check but during outages users see a 'fail whale' error message
